Limerick keen to keep O’Grady in charge for another year

LIMERICK secretary Mike O’Riordan has hinted the county board will ask Donal O’Grady to reconsider his plans to step down as senior hurling manager this year — regardless of Sunday’s All-Ireland quarter-final result against Dublin.

O’Grady has strenuously insisted he won’t extend his term into 2012 although he has revitalised Limerick’s fortunes this year, guiding them back to Division 1 at the first time of asking and reaching the last six in this year’s championship.

Limerick were also mere seconds away from beating Waterford and reaching a Munster final and board officials are understood to be very keen to persuade him to stay at the helm.
