Meehan will start at right corner-forward and is also joined in the team by Diarmuid Blake drafted in at centre-back and Matthew Clancy at left half-forward.
Fintan Ó’Curraoin and Tomas Flynn, who formed a midfield partnership for the All-Ireland winning U21 team in May, get their first championship starts at midfield and right half-forward respectively. The players to make way are Alan Burke, Gary O’Donnell, Greg Higgins, Eoin Concannon and Paul Conroy. Notable positional switches see Finian Hanley return to full-back from his midfield berth while Gareth Bradshaw is switched from wing-forward to wing-back.
