Double-header tickets

THE GAA have explained that All-Ireland qualifier double-header stand tickets cost €20 — €5 more than the recently-reduced €15 for backdoor games — simply because there are two games on offer.

Stand tickets are €20 at the Gaelic Grounds’ for tomorrow’s Galway/Cork SHC phase three qualifier, which is preceded by Limerick and Offaly’s second round SFC clash.

“It’s a double-header and it was the same price for the double-header the first weekend after we launched the initiative,” said GAA director of communications Lisa Clancy about the Antrim hurling and football qualifiers in Casement Park.

Croke Park also outlined why the Cork/Galway game will not be broadcast live on television.

“There are three games being televised this weekend,” said Clancy. “RTE have two games on the Sunday and TV3 chose Kildare and Laois football qualifier on the Saturday. It’s not in either of their contracts to televise an extra game.”
