Galway chief holds fire after Divilly blast

Holleran elected not to respond to yesterday’s Irish Examiner article in which Divilly took him and the board to task about the development of the game in the county. However, it is understood the comments made by Divilly could be raised at the next meeting of the football board.

Meanwhile, a planned trip by the Galway football minors to the seniors’ All-Ireland qualifier against Meath in Navan next Saturday has been cancelled due to financial constraints.

Manager Tommy Joyce had intended to bring his team on a weekend away to the game and an overnight stay in Dublin as part of their preparations for their Connacht final against Sligo in Hyde Park on Sunday week.

Holleran denied the football board refused to provide funds to supplement the cost of the trip.
