Lyng stung by criticism

DEREK LYNG admits he was so stung by the flack his former Kilkenny teammates received after the league final defeat to Dublin he considered making himself available again to Brian Cody.

“After the league there was a time there, especially when they were getting a bit of criticism,” said the midfielder who retired from inter-county hurling at the end of last year with a persistent hip injury.

“I suppose you hurl with lads for so long there is a bit of a bond there when you have been through so much together you’d love to help out any way you can.
