Loughnane faces his toughest fight

WHEN Barry Loughnane called me on Thursday and told me that his father Ger had leukaemia, I was shocked; even today, several days later, I’m still in shock.

Ger Loughnane, that giant of a man; always fit, always strong, always in top humour — leukaemia, hospital, chemotherapy?

I rang him, we talked, and as you’d expect, he’s nothing but positive. None of us should be surprised by that though, should we?
