REFEREE Cormac Reilly’s decision to award Dublin a late free, thus denying Kildare a replay in Croke Park next Saturday could also have deprived the Leinster Council of a potential €400,000 windfall.

After Eamonn Callaghan’s late goal and a point brought the sides level, it appeared the first replay in this year’s provincial championships was set to occur.

However, Reilly awarded a late, late free which Bernard Brogan converted to give the Dubs a 1-12 to 1-11 victory.
