McGuinness: Composure got Donegal over the line

THE result may be king in football’s realm but the manner in which Donegal secured their passage through to a first Ulster final in five years says even more about the manner in which Jim McGuinness has altered his county’s DNA.

For 30 minutes, Donegal were out-played, out-fought and out-thought and, though they competed on more even terms for the rest of the day, they never once raised their performances to elite levels.

McGuinness is still in the foothills of what he hopes will be an ascent that peaks of a September success story some day so beating a side like Tyrone on what could almost be termed an off-day should be food for thought.
