For 30 minutes, Donegal were out-played, out-fought and out-thought and, though they competed on more even terms for the rest of the day, they never once raised their performances to elite levels.

McGuinness is still in the foothills of what he hopes will be an ascent that peaks of a September success story some day so beating a side like Tyrone on what could almost be termed an off-day should be food for thought.
