SLIGO boss Kevin Walsh called on the GAA to review the way referees decide how much injury time is given and labelled the current structure as a “joke”.

The former All-Ireland-winning Galway midfielder had watched Laois referee Eddie Kinsella allot just two extra minutes in his side’s loss to Wicklow at Aughrim, despite several lengthy delays.

He believed, while accepting it wouldn’t have made a difference to the result, the game was deserving of at least six minutes’ injury time and acknowledged it will have a knock-on effect in a big championship game this summer.
