Brennan has learnt lesson the hard way
The St Vincent’s man was given his marching orders in the Leinster final two years ago following a clash with Ken Donnelly midway through the first half. Dublin’s numerical disadvantage went some way to giving Kildare a foothold in the game but Brennan was able to breathe easy when his side held out to win a fifth consecutive Leinster title.
“I felt relief,” he admitted. “I’d have been even more annoyed with myself had we lost. But thank God the boys put it together. I did learn from that experience, to keep my hands in my pockets and keep to myself and concentrate on playing football. That’s what I’ve tried to do since then.
