Mayfield would have coasted home only for wasting so many chances. In all they kicked 12 wides to just four for their opponents, eight coming in the first half when they were the dominant side.

Mayfield showed they meant business early on with a goal and a point inside the opening eight minutes. Shane Kelly began the scoring with a point, before namesake Nicky took a great Paul Condon pass in his stride before billowing the net from the edge of the square.
