Savage shoots Shamrocks to win

FORMER Galway inter-county sharpshooter, Derek Savage, rolled back the years and fired Cortoon Shamrocks into the second round of the Galway SFC.

Savage hit 1-4, including a goal in the opening half, and laid on another for David Walsh, as a pair of Shane Hogan goals failed to save Caltra at Tuam Stadium yesterday.

2004 All-Ireland champions Caltra, who lined out without danger man Micheal Meehan, now face a relegation play-off after Cortoon Shamrocks’ 2-12 to 2-6 win.
