This was a repeat of last year’s first round clash, where Ballyclough triumphed 1-11 to 0-9, but they missed the indubitable force of Colm O’Neill on this outing and Kinsale were deserved winners.

After losing their opening two games last year, they won’t have any relegation worries, though the bulk of the play wasn’t pretty.
