U21 bosses urge Sigerson rethink

SUNDAY’S All-Ireland U21 final managers have called for the Sigerson Cup to be scheduled before Christmas. Both Galway boss Alan Mulholland and Cavan’s Terry Hyland said the current fixture schedule does not give the U21 championship a sufficient window in the calendar.

They propose the Sigerson Cup, currently run in February and early March, be moved back a few months.

Mulholland said: “It’d be great if the Sigerson was played before Christmas. It would give a little bit of space to this competition. Both of us have a few lads going off to America so this competition has to be played before the summer.
