AIDAN WALSH will miss Cork’s Allianz Football League Division One decider with Dublin at Croke Park next Sunday.

Blow for Rebels as Walsh out of league final with hamstring injury

The Kanturk man limped out of the Rebels’ All-Ireland U21FC semi-final defeat to Galway on Saturday night with a hamstring injury. The problem will be assessed further by medical experts today but the midfielder is already out of contention for Sunday’s Croke Park decider.

However Cork did receive some good news at the weekend with veteran defender Anthony Lynch getting in his first inter-county 35 minutes since 2009 in a challenge game against Sligo.

Meanwhile, Derry are sweating on the availability of Paddy Bradley for the championship after the attacker sustained a serious knee injury on Saturday. Bradley was on crutches yesterday after collapsing while playing for Glenullin against Bellaghy.

Spectators said that no other player was involved when the former All Star collapsed to the ground in agony after turning sharply.

He immediately signalled to the bench that he required attention and was substituted.

Bradley must wait for the swelling to subside before he can undergo a scan later this week to assess the severity of the injury and if any ligament damaged has been caused. Cork’s Colm O’Neill and David Moran of Kerry are just two of the high profile footballers who have had their seasons ended by knee ligament injuries.
