Suspended Brogan set to miss league decider

ALAN BROGAN will miss Sunday week’s Division 1 final with Cork as he has opted not to contest the straight red card he picked up in Sunday’s Allianz FL draw with Galway.
Suspended Brogan set to miss league decider

A source close to the Dublin camp last night confirmed the two-time All Star won’t be appealing referee Pat Fox’s decision to dismiss him just seven minutes into the game.

Fox sent Brogan to the line after consulting with the linesman following the incident, which is set to sideline the forward for four weeks.

Dublin had hoped their video footage would prove the sending off was harsh but it had shown up no new evidence. Dublin maintain Fox’s decision was “too harsh” but were resigned to losing any appeal had Brogan elected to seek a meeting with the Central Hearings Committee.

Brogan is the second Dublin player to be suspended in this year’s league after Eoghan O’Gara was sidelined for eight weeks after he was judged to have attempted to strike Kerry’s Marc O’Sé with his head.

O’Gara accepted his punishment as the length of the ban for attempting to strike was the same as striking and will be available for the game.
