Down to the wire as Dubs and Roscommon await final opponents
Dublin booked their place in the Division 1 decider with victory over Down on Saturday night but their opponents will not be known until next Sunday with Cork, Kerry and Down all in contention. Cork and Kerry are on eight points with Down in fourth place on seven. A Cork win at home to Armagh will seal their place as, even if Kerry beat Down, Cork’s superior head-to-head record will see them through. Down will need to beat Kerry in Killarney and hope Armagh do them a favour.
Armagh, Monaghan and Galway are battling to beat the drop to Division 2. Armagh are on four points, Monaghan are on two and will be at home to Mayo while Galway are also on two ahead of a tie at home to Dublin. If Armagh lose and both Monaghan and Galway triumph, the three teams will all be on four points and in that instance scoring difference will be used to separate them. If two teams end up on the four point mark, then head-to-head records will determine who is relegated. A victory for Armagh in Cork would consign Monaghan and Galway to Division 2.
