Kiely and Fitzpatrick get nod for Rebels
Kiely has been selected at right half-back and Fitzpatrick picked at midfield in four changes made by Conor Counihan from the team that faced Galway last Sunday week. Jamie O’Sullivan comes into the team at full-back and Donncha O’Connor is introduced at left corner-forward with Denis O’Sullivan, Paudie Kissane, Nicholas Murphy and Colm O’Neill the quartet to make way.
Paul Galvin has been named in the Kerry starting side for the first time this year for their Division 1 clash with Monaghan. The Fingue man will line-out at left half-forward having recovered from the hip/groin surgery. O’Connor has decided to rest trio Eoin Brosnan, Tomás Ó Sé and Donnchadh Walsh for the trip to Inniskeen, while marksman Bryan Sheehan has been ruled out through injury and Tom O’Sullivan is not considered as he recovers from the flu.
Double All-Ireland winning captain Brian Dooher is ready to embark on a 16th season with Tyrone after being named on the bench for Sunday’s Division 2 clash with Kildare in Omagh. Philip Jordan is also listed among the substitutes for the first time in 2011. Manager Mickey Harte has made two changes from the side that overcame Laois last time out, both in defence. Joe McMahon makes his first start at full back, while Martin Swift comes in at corner back. Cathal McCarron and Dermot Carlin are the two players to make way. Opponents Kildare have selected an unchanged team for the game.
Wexford manager Jason Ryan has stuck with the same team that got the better of Cavan in their last tie for Sunday’s Division 3 clash against Tipperary in Thurles on Sunday. There are a few positional changes though with Redmond Barry moving from full-forward to centre-forward while Adrian Doyle swaps places with Brian Malone. Ciarán Lyng returns to his corner forward berth having played on the wing last time out.
Offaly boss Tom Cribben has drafted in midfielder Brian Connor, wing-forward Graham Guilfoyle and corner-forward Tomas Deehan for their Division 3 tie against Waterford. Niall Smith, Sean Ryan and Nigel Dunne are the trio to make way. Fermanagh manager John O’Neill has made five changes for their Division 4 clash against Clare. James McGrath, Barry Mulrone, Paul Ward, John O’Flanagan and Sean Quigley replace Chris Breen, Niall McGovern, Paul McCusker, Kevin Connolly and Chris O’Brien.
