Classy Cork storm past powerless champions

THE Munster U21FC trophy is destined to return to a traditional force this season after Cork ensured a final meeting with Kerry for the first time since 2004 by dismantling defending champions Tipperary at the semi-final stage last night in Páirc Uí Rinn.

Classy Cork storm past powerless champions

Cork’s path to that final in a fortnight’s time was a smooth one as they completed their opening assignment of the season with minimum fuss in front of an attendance of 2,134.

After a deeply disappointing campaign in this grade last year, when Kerry crushed them at the first hurdle, Cork began 2011 in positive fashion. The chasm that existed between themselves and Tipperary will be factored into any appraisal of this win but the level of Cork’s performance will still nourish their aspirations.
