Horan hails ‘massive result’ for Limerick
“There’s good belief in our squad but we just didn’t play in our first two league games at all. At least against Offaly we performed. We got a bit of confidence out of that match but our biggest regret was that we didn’t get the two points.
“On Sunday we rectified that and it was a massive result for us to beat Cavan. It was overall a very good week with the championship win for the U-21 footballers and two vital league points as well.
“The main priority with the league is to stay up and that’s what we want to work on.
“Louth is a crucial one next weekend as it’s our last away game and it’d be huge to get two points out of that. They are going very well in the league, they play good football and like to spray it around the place.”
Limerick will assess the fitness of Pallasgreen defender Lorcan O’Dwyer later in the week after he receives the results of an x-ray on a shoulder injury. O’Dwyer was forced to withdraw in the early stages of Sunday’s gamefollowing a collision with Cavan’s star attacker Seanie Johnston.
Cappagh forward Seamus O’Carroll should be available again having been ruled out last weekend due to senior handball commitments.
O’Carroll is one of five U21 players that Horan will call on the services of for the Louth match despite theproximity to next Wednesday night’s Munster U21FC semi-final against Kerry in the Gaelic Grounds.
Goalkeeper Brian Scanlon and wing-forward Eoghan O’Connor both started Sunday’s clash with Cavan while defender Mike Sheehan and forward James Kelly were bothintroduced as substitutes in the game.
