COUNTY chairmen have been asked by GAA President Christy Cooney and Director General Páraic Duffy if they are paying inter-county managers.

The Irish Examiner has learned the pair quizzed chairmen on their tour of the four provinces, which finished up last night with a meeting featuring Connacht officials in Claremorris, Co Mayo.

In at least one meeting, all the province’s chairmen were asked one by one if they had remunerated their managers with more than the accepted amount of expenses.
