The 2010 All Star nominee was forced off in the 64th minute following an incident which resulted in a yellow card for Dublin defender Peter Kelly.

Dooley, son of Offaly boss Joe Dooley, was immediately transferred to the neighbouring Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore, for treatment.

The Offaly manager said: “Shane is gone to the hospital. He has a bad injury. He has a badly cut ear, his ear is hanging on. So I don’t know how bad it is.”

He added: “Where were the officials looking at the time that happened?

“But anyway these things happen I suppose and we’ll have to get on with it. These things happen but there is no ball lying on a fella’s ear, I don’t think, when it is dropping down.”
