Carlow in command

LUKE DEMPSEY might be experiencing the blues with the senior Carlow side, but at U21 level he’s found another winning formula.

Despite losing Murtough Ware to a straight red card in the Leinster FC clash after just ten minutes, his side blitzed neighbours Wicklow at IT Carlow.

Senior hurler Eddie Byrne was unstoppable on the edge of the square, scoring two goals seven minutes into the contest.

Wicklow stayed in touch through Dean Siney’s free-taking, but even with Mick O’Dwyer watching closely, the Garden County had no answers to a rampant Carlow, who go on to face Kilkenny in the next round.
