Cats focused firmly on future

FOR all those Corkonians who believe tomorrow’s Allianz NHL game against Kilkenny is a revenge mission after their shellacking in the same fixture two years ago (4-26 to 0-11, remember?), Kilkenny selector Martin Fogarty has some advice — forget it.

Cats focused firmly on future

It was nothing personal, he says, just business, Kilkenny taking advantage of a unique set of circumstances. This Sunday is different.

“Jaysus, they’re still not remembering that, are they?” he laughs; “That’s all water well under the bridge. That was when Cork were in disarray, coming off the strike. We were going strong at the time, had a nice bit of training done, but sure Cork were only just back. If they had come up and beaten us it would have made a nonsense of this game altogether, wouldn’t it? That was the situation — if Cork had come up and beat us, it would have totally devalued the training.”
