KERRY legend Maurice Fitzgerald believes that winning a provincial Championship doesn’t hinder a team from claiming All-Ireland honours, despite the last three All-Ireland titles going to non-provincial title holders.

He also claimed that the All-Ireland successes of Tyrone, Kerry and Cork via the back-door route in the past three seasons hasn’t lessened the importance of provincial honours.

“I don’t think anybody would set out their stall not to win a provincial Championship,” said Fitzgerald.
