Clubs and counties feeling the pinch

MUNSTER Council PRO Jim Forbes has forecast a significant drop in the total expenditure by clubs and counties in the province on physical development projects over the next few years.

Clubs and counties feeling the pinch

Figures released by the Council yesterday revealed that the figure spent on physical development projects in Munster dropped in 2010 to €14,544,267 from the 2009 total of €22,604,020. Forbes predicts that greater prudence by clubs and county boards due to the worsening economic situation will lead to further falls in that total.

“It was a huge figure that was spent in the province this year but it is way down on previous years. I would expect that figure to continue to drop in the coming years. I think it’s safe to say that there’ll be no major construction projects done by clubs and counties for the foreseeable future. Clubs and county boards will probably be more prudent now.
