Canning happy with Galway’s lot in Leinster

OLLIE CANNING believes Galway’s players are perfectly content to be wedded to the Leinster senior hurling championship until 2013.

Originally due to take part in the competition for a three-year period that ends next season, the Connacht county have been informed that a recent Congress ruling placing a hiatus on rule changes has in fact added two more seasons to the experiment.

That won’t have gone down too well with a sizeable number of officials in Galway who were against the idea in the first place but the former All Star defender is all for a structure that has afforded his former colleagues greater playing time.
