Doyle so dominant as clinical Castletroy claim Munster crown

A DOMINANT display by Castletroy College saw them steamroll St Fachtna’s DLS of Skibbereen in the Munster U15 schools football final at Mallow yesterday.

Magnificent displays from John Nicholas, Ronan Murphy and midfield powerhouse Edward Doyle were the backbone for this impressive victory.

The trio notched up 14 points between them, with Doyle bagging 0-7 of those.

The influential number eight ran the show and was instrumental all through for the Shannonsiders.

The west Cork boys weren’t without some standout players themselves, with full forward Kevin Whooley and centre forward Michael Hurley causing a few problems for the Limerick boys.

Centre back Diarmuid O’Callaghan also put in a great shift for the Cork lads but, time after time, the surging runs from Doyle left his side without an answer as Castletroy eased to victory in the end.
