FOOTBALL may not be the main sport played in Bruree, but by tomorrow evening the club from the Limerick village could be the Munster junior champions.

Bruree play St Mary’s of Kerry at Mallow and while manager Mike McCarthy makes no bones about the primacy hurling holds, he contends that football is given plenty of attention.

“Hurling has always been the first love here - that was the case even when I was playing,” he says. “It was always a case of concentrating on the football after being knocked out of the hurling, but we’ve often shown we’re well able to play football too.”
