CRITICISM of RTÉ’s coverage of Gaelic games has been brushed aside by GAA president Christy Cooney.

President talks up good relationship with RTÉ

Dublin secretary John Costello this week launched a broadside at the broadcaster in his end-of-year report to the county convention, accusing the Montrose station of downgrading the importance of the national games.

The Dublin official suggested RTÉ held the opinion that the national games were played over a course of four months from May to September and decried the lack of a weekly magazine-type show to preview fixtures.
