Surge in travel expenses as Offaly report €80,000 loss

And delegates who were due to attend the annual convention this evening in Tullamore — it has been postponed due to the bad weather — will undoubtedly question how players’ travelling expenses jumped by around 17% in 2010.

A deficit of €81,705 was incurred by the Offaly county board in 2010 after a surplus of €98,223 in the previous 12 months. Total income was down from €1,132,543 to €1,029,892, while expenditure jumped from €1,034,320 to €1,111,597. Players travelling expenses were up from €83,558 to €99,550, and team administration expenses increased from €86,064 to €100,696. The year-end accounts would show a bigger deficit were it not for the fact that medical expenses were reduced from €66,913 to €48,004.
