Murphy to continue as Cork secretary for coming year

FRANK Murphy will be continuing as Cork County Board Secretary for the coming year. Chairman Jerry O’Sullivan made the announcement at last night’s Board meeting, saying: “we are all quite happy with that.’’

The expectation, however, is that it could be his last year, based on comments made at a meeting of the Board in September 2009 when it was indicated that he would not be staying on in office ‘beyond 2011.’

Murphy was appointed Secretary in December 1972 and he was one of the first in the country to take on the role in a full-time capacity.
