Fennell faces legal battle or a return to O’Toole’s
The All-Ireland hopeful has not played club football in two years as he’s embroiled in a bitter transfer spat with his native O’Toole’s.
In all, he’s been trying to move away from them for four years and just months ago was adamant he’d never play for the north-side club again. But, after exhausting virtually all avenues, he has now got just two options left; take a legal action against the club or simply return to play for O’Toole’s, which may be his best option.
“Yeah, that’s a big fear of mine,” revealed Fennell, “that, after all of this, to go back to O’Toole’s with my tail between my legs is probably one of the main options.”
The 26-year old newly enrolled DCU student still insists he deserves to move to St Vincent’s after two years of ‘penance’ but admitted recent talks with O’Toole’s were surprisingly positive as they implored him to return.
“Well I think it is all depending on what my answer is to O’Toole’s now,” said Dublin’s 2010 Allianz League star.
“I have to sit down with the legal side and see if there are other avenues that we can go down”.
Meanwhile, Fennell revealed that upcoming hip surgery will rule him out of the O’Byrne Cup and the early rounds of the Allianz League in a blow to Dublin boss Pat Gilroy.
