GAA officials in Galway are to meet with garda traffic management in a bid to prevent a repeat of dozens of parking tickets being dished out to supporters at Sunday’s county senior hurling final replay at Pearse Stadium in Salthill.

Fans in Galway have been up in arms after a blitz on illegal parking at the recent drawn hurling final between Loughrea and Gort and the football decider last month when Killererin defeated Corofin.

Galway’s GAA headquarters does not have its own car park and while arrangements are made with two local schools, most supporters park on the roads around the seaside resort.
