Smith does damage for Rathvilly

RATHVILLY remain on course to retain the Carlow SFC title following an 0-13 to 1-4 win over a disappointing Tinryland side in Saturday’s quarter-final at Dr Cullen Park.

Smith does damage for Rathvilly

County senior player JJ Smith was the key man for the champions, hitting 0-9 as his side led 0-9 to 0-2 at the break.

A 33rd minute goal from a Paul Broderick penalty gave Tinryland hope but Rathvilly raised their game to coast through to the semi-final. Broderick scored 1-3 of his side’s meagre total. Rathvilly, seeking an eighth county SFC title, advance to a semi-final with county champions Mount Leinster Rangers, who are on the trail of a championship double.
