GALWAY GAA chiefs last night upped the ante in the row over the venue for the All-Ireland U21 hurling final by demanding an immediate meeting with president Christy Cooney and director general Páraic Duffy.

Galway are angry that their U21 All-Ireland final meeting remains fixed for Semple Stadium on Saturday week and while they are not threatening militant action such as boycotting the match, they are adamant that the game should be moved to a neutral venue.

Galway Hurling Board chairman Joe Byrne said they were demanding the meeting because they felt they were not being listened to.
