Hip injury rules out Fennell

DUBLIN midfielder Eamonn Fennell has revealed that he won’t be lining out with O’Toole’s in tonight’s senior club championship clash with Ballyboden St Enda’s.

Hip injury rules out Fennell

Fennell has been trying in vain to transfer from O’Toole’s for the last three years, first to Ballymun Kickhams, and then to St Vincent’s.

But his attempts have been repeatedly blocked by the club and by the Dublin County Board.

A question mark would be placed over the player’s inter-county future if he continued to refuse to play with the Blunden Drive outfit, but on this occasion a hip injury has left Fennell with no choice on the matter.

“I had a cortisone injection for my hip injury (Wednesday), and I won’t be able to train or play football for two weeks,” explained Fennell last night. “So there is no way that I would be able to play for O’Toole’s tomorrow (Thursday) even if I wanted to.”
