GAA President Christy Cooney, pictured, last night revealed that the All-Ireland final trophy presentations will be held in the centre of the Croke Park pitch as the association bids to get tough on pitch invasions.

The GAA experimented with the concept in the late nineties but the scheme was abandoned in the wake of the break through All-Ireland wins by Armagh and Tyrone.

But given fears of serious injury – and increased insurance payouts – the GAA are again attempting to end the tradition.
