ISC funding boost for three biggest sporting bodies

THE three biggest sporting organisations in the country are set to benefit to the tune of €9.9 million after the Irish Sports Council yesterday announced its annual funding package for 2010.

The GAA are set to receive €3.15 million, the FAI have been allocated €3.61 million while the IRFU will receive €3.09 million, with the emphasis in all three funding programmes being increasing levels of participation by young people through the programmes that are established in the three organisations.

The money has been received from government funding, with the Sports Council investing an estimated €25 million from their own resources in the sport development programmes, making a total of €34.5 million injection into sports development in 2010.
