O’Brien got Micko all-clear

WICKLOW selector Kevin O’Brien has revealed he waited for the all clear from boss Mick O’Dwyer before agreeing to become part of Ireland’s International Rules management team.

Last week O’Dwyer bemoaned the fact that his own chance of managing the national side, something he first expressed an interest in back in the early 1980s, has probably now passed him by.

The Kerry legend speculated that he must be out of favour among Croke Park officials though that clearly isn’t the case with his trusted lieutenant O’Brien.
