Mayo await Higgins scan

MAYO defender Keith Higgins will have a scan on his knee this morning after suffering an injury in Sunday’s Allianz NFL Division One clash against Monaghan in Castlebar.

Higgins, inspirational at corner-back in Mayo’s charge for a league final place, limped out in the 44th minute of Sunday’s encounter.

Manager John O’Mahony yesterday expressed hopes Higgins has not suffered serious damage. “He’s going for a scan at 10.30am and we’ll know more after that,” said O’Mahony. “He has some damage done to his knee but at this stage we’re just hoping that it’s not too serious.”
