ONE of the longest running inter-county GAA sponsorships is to enter a 20th year.

Supermacs chip in for Galway

Fast food giant Supermacs last night announced it is to renew its deal with Galway hurling for another two seasons. The agreement covers the county senior, U21 and minors teams as well as county underage sides.

The company have pumped over €1 million into the Tribesman.

Managing director of Supermacs, Pat McDonagh, said: “Sports sponsorship is very important to Supermacs as I see the benefits of sports having a wider effect throughout our society. From working with teams at primary school level right through to senior county teams, the discipline and commitment required are solid lessons learned by players which translate into many other aspects of their lives such as school, work, their families and society. Sport brings communities together in a very unique way.”

Galway Hurling Board chairman, Joe Byrne, added: “Many teams and age groups involved in hurling will benefit.

“It is both positive and uplifting to see a business willing to get behind sport at this level and uphold their long-standing commitment to the game. This was a fantastic day for Galway hurling and we hope this continues for the year.”
