CCCC to probe Cork flashpoints as Kingdom consider Galvin appeal

KERRY boss Jack O’Connor believes Paul Galvin is being judged on his reputation after last year’s Footballer of the Year was sent-off again in the All-Ireland champions’ defeat against Cork in a tempestuous clash at Páirc Ui Rinn on Saturday night.

CCCC to probe Cork flashpoints as Kingdom consider Galvin appeal

Galvin faces at least a month on the sidelines after being dismissed in the 21st minute of a stormy first-half after an off-the-ball incident involving Cork defender Eoin Cadogan. Galvin and Cadogan grappled on the ground and after consulting with his linesmen, Laois referee Maurice Deegan showed red cards to both players. However, television pictures suggested both had been harshly dismissed.

Two minutes previously Cork defender Noel Galvin was dismissed after picking up a second yellow card for a high tackle on Kieran Donaghy. There were several other first-half flashpoints and after the precedent set with the spate of suspensions from last week’s Tyrone-Derry clash, there could be further Cork and Kerry players punished if the CCCC examines the video footage of this game.
