KILKENNY GAA chiefs will lodge a formal complaint with Croke Park in the wake of the chaotic scenes after their All-Ireland SHC final win over Tipperary.

County board delegates have also demanded that supporters of All-Ireland winning teams be allowed onto the field for the presentation of trophies — despite GAA ambitions to end the tradition.

GAA bosses had planned to present the Liam MacCarthy Cup on a podium in the centre of the field after the final whistle of the September 6 decider. However that was scrapped as thousands of Kilkenny fans ran out onto the pitch after their four in a row success against the Munster champions.
