GPA: 15% of members can’t find a job

GPA chiefs last night revealed that approximately 15% of their membership are out of work and seeking employment.

The players’ association, which boasts over 2,000 members, admits they are “fearful” the figure will grow now that inter-county and club championships are coming to a conclusion and the nation’s top footballers and hurlers go abroad in search of work.

GPA spokesman Sean Potts admitted that their website (www.gpajobs.com) launched earlier this year to aid unemployed players is receiving “a huge amount of traffic” and shows little side of diminishing.
