Kelly: our work-rate and hard graft got us through

THE twin themes of hard graft and covering great acreage were highly relevant for Cork in Croke Park yesterday and wing-forward Patrick Kelly could relate more than most.

The Ballincollig man produced a superb display of boundless energy and effort, a contribution that was all the more important given Cork had to cope with the adversity of playing with 14 men for over 40 minutes.

“There was huge onus today on honesty from us, with everyone watching their own man,” said Kelly. “It’s about work-rate and matching Tyrone with it. If you don’t, you’ll be hammered. I think we did that very well, even when we went down to 14 men and we were able to match them all over the pitch.
