We’ll have to sharpen up, cautions O’Connor

THERE was almost a sense of inevitability about yesterday’s game ending in a draw for Jack O’Connor, who remembered back to 2006 when he was last involved, and Cork again finished level with Kerry in Killarney and won the replay in Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

We’ll have to sharpen up, cautions O’Connor

The Kerry boss readily conceded that the gap between the counties has narrowed considerably in recent years: “There has been very little between the teams,’’ he commented. “We knew it was going to come down to the last five minutes; this Cork team has been coming for a while and they were every bit as good as we thought.’’

Overall, O’Connor not only feels that his team can play a lot better, he accepts that they will have to be sharper if they are to make it to the final against Limerick.
