The Kilkenny selectors have made four changes from the team that suffered its first defeat since the league semi-finals last April when beaten by Waterford.
Michael Kavanagh comes in for his first game of the season while JJ Delaney has been picked at full-back after shaking off an illness that side-lined him last weekend.
Martin Comerford returns to the attack for his first start with Kilkenny since he broke a bone in his leg in last year’s All-Ireland final against Waterford.
TJ Delaney, who was ill last weekend, has been picked to start at midfield in a new partnership with John Tennyson.
Manager Brian Cody has picked what would appear to be his strongest team this season as last year’s All Ireland squad members slowly come back into the reckoning. The players who lost out from last weekend’s team were Sean Cummins, James Ryall, Aidan Fogarty, and Willie O’Dwyer.
Tadhg Kennelly, the only Irish man to win an AFL Premiership medal, could make his debut for the Kerry senior footballers tomorrow.
Kennelly, who returned from a 10-year stint with AFL side Sydney Swans in early February, is included amongst the substitutes for the clash with NFL champions Derry in Bellaghy.
The Listowel man, whose father Tim and brother Noel won All-Ireland SFC medals, has impressed in training and could see game time in Bellaghy.
Meanwhile Kieran Donaghy, Micheal Quirke and Tom O’Sullivan make their first starts of the season for the Kingdom in the round three clash.
Jack O’Connor makes six changes to the side which defeated Tyrone in Omagh last month — Donaghy and Quirke replace Tommy Walsh and David Moran who are on U-21 duty next weekend with O’Sullivan in at corner back for the injured Killian Young.
Aidan O’Shea is ruled out due to illness with Tommy Griffin taking his place in the half backline, Donnacha Walsh regains his attacking berth at the expense of Sean O’Sullivan while manager O’Connor continues his goalkeeper rotation policy meaning Ger Reidy of Desmonds is chosen ahead of Diarmuid Murphy.
Seamus McEnaney has made two changes from the Monaghan team that started against Wexford for the trip to Armagh. Damien Freeman comes in for his first start of the season and Dessie Mone will play at corner back.
Fermanagh have also made two changes from the side which defeated Meath for their clash with Conor Counihan’s Cork with Rory Foy and Paul Johnston replacing the injured Damien Kelly and Peter Sherry.
Ross Carr has named two changes to the side that took on Louth in Round two of the National Football League for the clash with Cavan. Captain Dan Gordan returns to the side after injury and replaces Jackie Lynch in midfield, while Ballyholland Club man Ronan Murtagh comes in for Jamie O Reilly in the full forward line.
