Knee injury may end O’Neill’s NFL campaign

STEPHEN O’NEILL (pictured) is in danger of missing the remainder of the National League due to the knee injury which ruled him out of Sunday’s defeat by Kerry.

Knee injury may end O’Neill’s NFL campaign

Tyrone manager Mickey Harte confirmed last night that O’Neill is likely to be out of football for “four or five weeks”. Harte said that the injury is in the knee area although there have been reports that O’Neill has suffered a hairline fracture of a kneecap.

Tyrone will face Galway, Westmeath, Donegal and Derry in March. The Red Hands’ next game will be against the Tribesmen on Saturday, March 7, and Harte accepts that O’Neill is unlikely to be unavailable for that contest. Over the following three weeks, Tyrone face Westmeath (March 15), Donegal (March 21) and Derry (March 28) before their final Division 1 round-robin game against Mayo on April 12.
