NICKEY BRENNAN has described the Cork footballers’ threat of strike action as disappointing and unhelpful.

Last week, Conor Counihan’s panel served notice of their intention to take to the picket line after the completion of the National Football League if the dispute involving their hurling counterparts is not settled by then.

The footballers released a statement to the effect that they were fully behind the 2008 hurling panel and which was also highly critical of the Cork county board. Gerald McCarthy has described the development as sad.
